| Inter-semiotic translation is the replacement of the signs of a text in one sign system with their corresponding signs in another sign system. Such a process was pursued in the past, but it was carried out with a very rudimentary perspective, like illustration based on a text. However, it has found various scientific, artistic, analytical and educational complexities now. While making use of established sciences such as translation and linguistics, it has also benefited from several new sciences. The holy Quran, which is a vast and shoreless ocean with its massive literary, rhetorical, artistic, etc. capacities, has very suitable potentials for inter-semiotic translation. The output of this translation can be classified as one of the categories of art; hence numerous tools and methods of arts can be used in this accomplishment. Inter-semiotic translation relies on different disciplines. To begin with, it needs such usual sciences as translation, rhetoric, interpretation, and the like, but in its path and destination, other sciences and technologies such as philosophy of art, basics of visual arts, semiotics, psychology, etc. are necessary. This descriptive-explanatory research, conducted by collecting information from library sources, is an attempt to discover and model the method of the inter-semiotic translation of the Quran. To this end, the step-by-step process of the inter-semiotic translation of the Quran, including ten steps, is introduced, and a clear procedure is provided. |
