One of the controversial topics in the Qur'an is the interpretive concept of "deception" (ighwá) and "how it is attributed to God" in the verse "And it will not benefit you if I advise you, if Allah intends to lead you astray; He is your Lord, and to Him you will return" (Hūd, 34). The views of prominent commentators from both Sunni and Shia traditions on this issue are numerous and often contradictory. This article, using an analytical-descriptive method, aims to identify, categorize, and analyze these views. The findings indicate that commentators primarily mention four meanings for the interpretive concept of "deception": "misguidance," "perdition," "despairing of God's mercy," and "deprivation of God's mercy." Regarding the attribution of this concept to God, there are two main categories: "fatalism" and "punitive." The conclusion of the present study is that in the Qur'an, "deception" attributed to God in the context of the structure of the verb "If'āl" (denoting causality) in relation to "Satan" and "the people of Prophet Noah (as)" refers to "the enactment of God's will for their fall into the deepest form of misguidance" due to their extreme disbelief and apostasy. This results in the complete loss of hope for their guidance, after which God's punishment swiftly descends upon them.
