Seyyed Murtaḍā, one of the most prominent Imāmī scholars and jurists of the fourth and fifth centuries AH, undertook a sophisticated analysis and interpretation of complex and contested Qur’anic verses and narrations in his magnum opus Ghurar al-Fawāʾid wa Durar al-Qalāʾid (commonly known as Amālī). The distinctive feature of this work lies in its systematic integration of reason and transmitted sources (ʿaql and naql), alongside the employment of a wide array of ḥadīth-analytical (fiqh al-ḥadīth) tools in engaging with transmitted texts. Given that a significant portion of the narrations in Amālī are khabar al-wāḥid (solitary reports)—often subjects of scholarly contention—examining Seyyed Murtaḍā’s ḥadīth-analytical sciences and methods in dealing with these narrations constitutes an important scholarly endeavor. Adopting a descriptive–analytical approach, this study explores the ḥadīth-analytical instruments utilized by Seyyed Murtaḍā in Amālī and demonstrates that he employed a wide range of disciplines with remarkable precision, including: ʿIlm al-Dirāyah (science of ḥadīth methodology), uṣūl al-fiqh (principles of jurisprudence), application of legal rulings, consultation of exegetical opinions, reliance on established empirical findings, use of sound reason, and integration of Qur’anic sciences (wujūh wa-naẓāʾir) as well as rhetorical sciences (ʿalaqāt and relational structures). The findings indicate that Seyyed Murtaḍā, through his innovative and methodical approach, played a pivotal role in advancing the methodological foundations of fiqh al-ḥadīth within the Imāmī scholarly tradition.
