The study of the issue of the occurrence of distortion of the shortcoming in the Qur’an is one of the most important topics in Qur’anic sciences; because it is linked to the external realization of the divine will in communicating the greatest divine revelation. All Islamic sects believe in the absence of excessive distortion in the Qur’an; however, a group of Sunni scholars and Shiite Akhbārians believe in distortion of the shortcoming in the Qur’an. Akhbārians such as Seyed Nematullah Jazayeri and Mirza Hossein Nouri, who, considering the implications of the narratives of distortion, have sought to prove their belief that the Qur’an has been distorted. By examining the bases of Akhbarism, including: the certainty of the transmission of the narratives of the Four Books, the lack of authenticity of the Qur’anic phenomena for non-infallibles, the lack of authenticity of prophetic narratives except with the confirmation of the infallibles, the lack of need for the Science of Hadith’s Narrators except in cases of conflict, and the lack of validity of rational evidence in deducing commandments, one can understand the excessive tendency of the extremist Akhbārists towards hadiths and their careless acceptance in areas such as the distortion of the Qur’an; ignoring that forgers and exaggerators have been involved in the fabrication of many of these narratives, and the indication of some of them on the occurrence of distortion is problematic; what includes the interpretation of the verses also refers to spiritual distortion, and in the view of such hadith scholars, it is wrong to base the claim of distortion. In this study, using a descriptive-analytical method, the attitude of the extremist Shiite Akhbārians regarding distortion due to the shortcoming in the Qur’an has been examined, and the reasons and grounds for accepting narratives of distortion due to the shortcoming in the Holy Qur’an have been explained.
