The Correlation between the Qur’anic Concept of the Verse “Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me” and Victories in Battles: An Emphasis on the Thought of the Late Martyr Leader, Ayatollah Khomeini
Morteza Safari Tabar , Seyed Mostafa Malihi1
Abstract:   (4 Views)
Victory in decisive battles is governed by a multitude of variables; while some attribute success to material and visible power, others contend that spiritual forces are of greater significance. Historically, even during the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader [Imam Khomeini], certain factions anticipated defeat. However, during the Holy Defense (the Iran-Iraq War), particularly in the month of Ramaḍān, the manifestations of victory—centered on the principle of Inna ma’iya Rabbi (Indeed, with me is my Lord), the perennial slogan of our martyred Imam—became clearly evident. Therefore, it is imperative to correctly elucidate this concept as a successful and effective paradigm for the future-oriented axis of Resistance. In Islamic thought, “Divine Aid” (Imdād-e Ilāhi) and “Divine Accompaniment” (Ma‘iyyah-ye Rububiyyah) serve as decisive components in strategic calculations. Verse 62 of Surah al-Shu’ará (Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me), which expresses the pinnacle of Prophet Moses’s (as) trust and certainty during a moment of existential crisis, has been reinterpreted within the intellectual framework of Ayatollah Khamenei as a “Divine Sunnah” (Divine Law) and a “Paradigm of Victory” in the struggle of Truth against Falsehood. Utilizing a descriptive-analytical methodology and relying on the official documents and discourses of the Leader, this research seeks to answer: What is the relationship between “Divine Accompaniment” and the components of military victory? The findings indicate that, in the view of Ayatollah Khamenei, Divine Accompaniment is not a passive or reactive element, but rather a proactive and positive force. It functions through “guidance in decision-making,” “the infusion of tranquility during crises,” and “the strengthening of the spirit of steadfastness” (the enhancement of Basirah or insight), ultimately leading to a shift in the balance of power in favor of the Front of Truth. From his perspective, reliance on this Qur’anic principle in contemporary battles facilitates the transformation of “threats into opportunities” and neutralizes enemy strategies within complex security environments.
Keywords: Divine Accompaniment (Ma‘īyyah), Verse 62 of Surah al-Shu’ará, Ayatollah Khamenei, Battle, Victory, Divine Sunnahs, Crisis Management.
